Former All My Children star, Phyllis Lyons (ex-Arlene Vaughan), was arrested last month on a grand felony theft charge. The 48-year-old actress is accused of stealing a $688 pair of earrings from a Montecito, CA clothing and accessories store.
According to celebrity tattle website, RadarOnline.com, the alleged shoplifting incident was all caught on video tape. Oddly, the store did not realize that the earrings in question were even missing until an inventory check the following day. After reviewing a security tape, a store employee spotted Lyons, a regular customer at the shop, putting the earrings into her pocket when a store clerk was not looking.
In addition to being known as a former daytime star, Lyons is also known for being the wife of Emmy-winning actor/producer Adam Arkin. Police arrived at the couple's house in the early morning hours of February 5, and Lyons was transported to the North Hollywood police station where she was booked and held on $20,000 bail. Lyons was described as "cooperative" and returned the earrings.
Lyons appeared on All My Children from 1990 to 1993. After leaving her role on the ABC soap, the actress went on to make a series of guest-starring appearances in primetime. Some of her roles included stops on 24, House, and The Practice.
A court date has yet to be set.
