With four soaps under his belt and a daytime career that spans 20 years, it's easy for soap fans to think that they know everything about All My Children star Ricky Paull Goldin (Jake Martin). However, in a new primetime special, fans will see a side of Goldin that they've probably never seen before.
What soap fans may not know is that Ricky is the son of world-renowned hypnotist and mentalist Paul Goldin. Paul's dying wish was for Ricky to find a way to "out" people that falsely claim to possess paranormal talent or supernatural abilities and to highlight those who are the real deal. Shortly after his father passed, Ricky came across a journal his father had kept that chronicled his life as a spiritualist, constantly striving to explain the unexplainable. Ricky's father developed his natural gifts to a point where he became a prominent figure in the spiritual world -- and he even worked for the CIA.
Their journey across America leads them to a man who refers to himself as a "Perceptionist," to Arkansas in search of the devil, and, finally, they land in Missouri to track down a boy who survived a tornado.
Ricky Paull Goldin got his start in daytime as Dean Frame on NBC's now-canceled Another World. He remained with the show through 1995, but returned for the series' finale in 1998. From there, Goldin moved to The Young and the Restless, where he played Gary Dawson for a period of time in 1999. Prior to joining All My Children, Goldin found a new wave of fame for his seven-year run as Gus Aituro on Guiding Light. There, he received two Daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor.
Goldin assumed the role of AMC's Jake Martin in May 2008.
