Abigail Spencer (ex-Becca Tyree, All My Children) is set to play a cardiothoracic surgeon in ABC's Rebel, a new series created by Krista Vernoff and inspired by the life of Erin Brockovich.
According to Deadline, the drama will follow actress Katey Sagal in the role of Annie "Rebel" Bello (Sagal), a blue-collar legal advocate who doesn't have a law degree. Rebel is a funny, messy, brilliant, and fearless woman who cares desperately about the causes she fights for and the people she loves. And when she applies herself to a fight she believes in, she will win -- at almost any cost.
Spencer has joined the series as Misha, a brilliant doctor who has a painful romantic history with Nate (Kevin Zegers) and can't resist getting involved with studying the Stonemore heart valve for fear that she may have inadvertently harmed hundreds of patients.
Rebel -- which also stars Mary McDonnell, Dan Bucatinsky, Adam Arkin, John Corbett, and Daniella Garcia -- is set to premiere on ABC on Thursday, April 8. Check out a teaser trailer below and let us know what you think in the Comments section below.
Spencer played the role of AMC's Becca from 1998 to 2001. After leaving Pine Valley, she went on to find mainstream fame in series like Mad Men, Rectify, Suits, True Detective, and Timeless.
