While soap fans may focus in on storytelling and actors as what makes a soap a soap, there is another player in every daytime drama series that often gets overlooked: the music. The Bold and the Beautiful recently released its first album of original musical compositions that have been featured on the show.
Appropriately titled, Music of Passion and Romance, the album features 22 songs originally composed by the Emmy-winning music team of Jack Allocco, David Kurtz, and Bradley Bell. Bell, of course, also serves as B&B's head writer and executive producer.
According to a press release, the album has been in the works for well over a year. The tracks span the series' entire 23-year run.
"David Kurtz and I are so very pleased to share some of our favourite music from B&B," said Allocco. "In so many ways it has been the soundtrack of our lives."
"We have been able to record this music with some of the finest orchestras and players in the world. We hope the score will conjure up our fans favourite scenes," added Kurtz.
Allocco and Kurtz have been composers for The Bold and the Beautiful since the series debuted in 1987.
"This is an album of love, of passion, and of extraordinary beauty," Bell noted. "It holds some of the most romantic music ever heard on television and we are pleased to be able to offer this to our fans."
Some of the tracks included are "Beyond Brooke," "Tuesday's Rain," "Bold and Beautiful Waltz," "Jackie M. Theme," and "Martini Sunset."
The album is available on iTunes for $9.99. Individual tracks can be purchased for $0.99.
