When Deacon Sharpe and Sheila Carter first teamed up in 2021 so they could help each other win the love of their adult children, nobody ever expected them to genuinely fall in love. But that's exactly what happened, and now this unlikely pair is about to get hitched at their favorite Italian restaurant where it all began.
Isn't it fortuitous that Deacon now owns that restaurant and employs Sheila while they live in a one-room apartment above it? They've already experienced plenty of ups and downs at Il Giardino, especially when Deacon discovered Steffy and Finn's bloodied bodies in the alley behind the kitchen after Sheila shot them both and left them for dead.
All that is in the past now, as Deacon and Sheila make it official just weeks after he held her funeral in the same spot. Coming back from the dead is all part of Sheila's bag of tricks, and maybe that is what Deacon loves so much about her. There's never a dull moment when Sheila is around.
Even Sean Kanan never thought Deacon and Sheila would take this path when both he and Kimberlin Brown returned to the fashion soap in 2021.
"We were both taken by surprise, which is great," Kanan told SheKnows Soaps. "As an actor, especially in this genre, it's great when you don't necessarily know where things are going because it keeps the job interesting."
However, Kanan admits that Deacon is well aware of who Sheila is, despite falling in love with her. He seems to have appointed himself her protector, thinking he can keep her in line, but can he? Sheila is a volatile character who has been wreaking havoc for decades and showed just how mischievous she can still be when she taunted Li Finnegan in her hospital room.
"There's a constant concern for Deacon because he knows that Sheila has it within her to flip a switch," Kanan said. "He's trying to be a calming force for Sheila, but he's also keeping a close eye on her. He wants to be sort of her true north so she doesn't give in to her lesser angels."
While both the bride and groom are not sure if his daughter Hope and her son Finn will even show up to the wedding, you can expect a few stunners before the nuptials come to a close. Will a surprise guest arrive? Will any guests arrive at all? Stay tuned to find out.
