Nadia Bjorlin (Chloe Lane) is back to work at Days of our Lives after an illness sidelined her and forced the NBC soap to temporarily recast her role.
"Hey everyone! Just wanted to say HI and I haven't forgotten about you, I've just been very, very ill this past week," Bjorlin posted on Twitter near the end of October.
The day after Bjorlin informed fans of her illness, NBC sent out the following casting notice: "30-year-old stunning brunette with blue eyes, Caucasian female. This is a temporary recast of a series regular. Actor must be available to come in and read for producers THIS AFTERNOON. ONLY SUBMIT EXTREMELY STRONG EXPERIENCED ACTORS who can handle 45-50 pages of material a day."
Former General Hospital star Alicia Leigh Willis (ex-Courtney Matthews) was hired and the actress filled in for Bjorlin on November 1. Bjorlin was cleared to return to work the next day, and DAYS execs opted to scrap Willis' scenes and allow Bjorlin to reshoot the scenes.
"[It was] very cool of them to let me do that," Bjorlin tweeted on November 3.
As for Willis, a set source tells Soap Central that Willis did a great job subbing for Bjorlin - and that her performance was not lost on show execs, prompting some to wonder if Willis might be rewarded with a future role on Days of our Lives.
Bjorlin joined Days of our Lives in 1999.
