Another day, another Days of our Lives deparature. Louise Sorel (Vivian Alamain) has announced that her contract with the NBC soap will not be renewed, and hinted that it's possible that she may be written out before that contract expires.
In an interview with TVGuide's Michael Logan, Sorel hinted that the show is undergoing some major changes that, hopefully, will help keep DAYS from cancellation.
"My guess is that there's upheaval," Sorel offered. "The only thing I know for sure is that I'm gone. They're bringing Deidre Hall (Marlena Evans) and Drake Hogestyn (John Black) back for the summer, which doesn't mean they won't continue on for the fall, winter, and spring. Maybe I'm a financial trading card so the show can afford them."
Sorel made her soap opera debut in 1984 as Santa Barbara's Augusta Lockridge, and in 1986 appeared for one year on One Life to Live. The actress originated the role of Vivian in 1992 and remained with DAYS for eight years, making it by far her longest daytime run. Upon leaving DAYS in 2002, Sorel made short-term appearances on All My Children, Passions, and Port Charles, and was rumored to be in the running as a recast for Dorian Lord on OLTL.
As for when Sorel will exit the canvas, the actress admitted that she's not sure.
"My contract ends September 13, though that doesn't mean I'll work until then," Sorel stated.
Days of our Lives' current tape schedule has the show taping episodes about two months ahead of their airdate.
Sorel's announced exit comes just a day after Crystal Chappell (Carly Manning) informed fans that her contract with DAYS would not be renewed.
