Daytime vet Sydney Penny will join the cast of Days of our Lives for seven episodes beginning in late August, according to TVGuide.
Penny is known to daytime fans for her Emmy-nominated appearances on All My Children and Santa Barbara. Penny started in daytime on Santa Barbara, playing the role of B.J. Walker from 1992 to 1993. Penny earned her first Daytime Emmy nomination -- an Outstanding Younger Actress -- in 1993.
Two years later, Penny nabbed an Outstanding Supporting Actress nomination for her work as Julia Santos on All My Children. Penny appeared on AMC from 1993 to 1996, but made guest appearances in 1997 and 2002. She returned to the ABC soap full-time in 2005, but exited three years later when her character was killed off.
Penny also appeared as Samantha Kelly on CBS's The Bold and the Beautiful from 2003 to 2005, and the actress stepped in as an emergency recast on Sunset Beach in 1999.
On Days of our Lives, Penny will play Dr. Norman, a doctor at the rehabilitation center treating Carly Manning for her drug addiction. Penny's seven-episode stint begins on August 30.
Penny will also guest star on Lifetime's series Drop Dead Diva on Sunday, July 31 at 9:00pm. Penny will play the role of Carol Kritzer, a character described as a tough, top-notch businesswoman. Carol ends up suing one of the main characters, Stacy, after Stacy makes some truthful and disparaging comments about products produced by Carol's company.
