Congratulations are in order for Days of our Lives star Thaao Penghlis (Tony DiMera) and actor Harry Hamlin, the real-life husband of Lisa Rinna (ex-Billie Reed). The talented performers are to be given Lifetime Achievement Awards at this year's Borderscene Film Festival.
The Las Cruces, New Mexico-based festival has announced the news along with the update that it is taking its annual event global by offering an online-only pass, so viewers can watch from the comfort of their homes.
"A lot of people aren't able to attend the festival," says Dave Witt, Borderscene executive director. "We have a lot of retirees and veterans and people with disabilities like PTSD that would love to be there, but they can't. We thought, 'How do we reach those folks?' The answer was to view it online."
The online pass will give fans around the world the opportunity to see all 75 films that will screen at the festival, which begins Wednesday, September 7, and runs through Wednesday, September 9. The online-only pass is valid from Wednesday, September 4, and can be purchased here.
Says Penghlis of being chosen as one of the recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award, which is being handed out on Tuesday, September 8: "What a wonderful surprise for Harry Hamlin & myself. Blessings continue."

Penghlis got his start in daytime as General Hospital character Victor Cassadine in 1981, but when his GH character was killed off that same year, he moved over to Days of our Lives to play Tony DiMera and, later, Andre DiMera. He has played both characters on-again, off-again since then, with his most recent return to Salem being earlier this year in the role of Tony. Penghlis also played the role of Dr. Micah DeAngelis on Santa Barbara from 1992 to 1993 and briefly returned as GH's Victor in 2014.
Harry Hamlin is an actor whose credits include Perseus, Clash of the Titans, L.A. Law, and Mad Men. He has been married to former DAYS actress Lisa Rinna (ex-Billie Reed) since 1997. The couple has two daughters, Delilah Belle Hamlin and Amelia Gray Hamlin, who both featured in their parents' reality show Harry Loves Lisa.
The theme for this year's Borderscene festival is "Overcoming Challenges," with panels and films featuring stories about beating the odds.
