In a statement on her official web site, actress Sarah J. Brown (ex-Carly Corinthos, General Hospital; ex-Julia Larrabee, As the World Turns) has announced her return to General Hospital. As the story broke, details were sketchy, however, is was always known that the actress would be taking on a role other than Carly, the role for which she is best known.
Brown originated the role of Carly on General Hospital in April 1996, before exiting the show in April 2001 to pursue other opportunities. During her tenure with the show, Brown earned three consecutive Daytime Emmys - Younger Actress wins in 1997 and 1998 and a Supporting Actress win in 1999.

Since Brown's exit, General Hospital has seen three other actresses tackle the role of Carly. Tamara Braun took over from Brown in May 2001 before leaving in 2005. Jennifer Bransford held the role for several months in 2005, but the actress never clicked with viewers. The current Carly, Laura Wright, was lured away from CBS's Guiding Light in November 2005.
Brown has met with various degrees of success since leaving General Hospital. The actress has never gone long without landing a new gig, but unfortunately many of the actress' primetime roles have been in series that didn't last too long. In 2005 and 2006, Brown appeared as Julia Larrabee on As the World Turns. Most recently, Brown appeared in guest spots on The Closer and K-Ville.
This is not the first time that Brown's return to General Hospital has made headlines. In 2005, Brown's name was batted around when it was learned that Braun was exiting the show.
As Soap Central first reported, Brown will be appearing as a member of the Zacchara crime family during February Sweeps. Brown has now confirmed that she has inked a one-year deal to appear as Claudia Zacchara. She will first air on January 31st.
A GH spokesperson did not immediately return requests for comment.
