General Hospital is on the move. Beginning Monday, September 10, the show will air one hour earlier: 2pm Eastern, and 1pm Central and Pacific.
The move is part of a readjustment to ABC's daytime lineup. Last year, the network announced that Katie Couric's new self-titled talk show would air on most ABC stations nationwide in General Hospital's timeslot. Fans had immediate concerns that Couric's show would bring about the end of GH, but that was not the case. Earlier this year, ABC canceled the The Revolution, opening up an hour in the schedule. The Revolution, which debuted in January 2012 as a "replacement" for One Life to Live, had subpar ratings from its debut and was promptly axed. Between the last broadcast of The Revolution and the launch date of Katie, ABC had been airing a special limited-run series known as Good Afternoon America.
To celebrate the timeslot move, ABC will be hosting special Twitter chats with five of its stars. To participate, fans need only log on to Twitter during the East Coast broadcast (2pm Eastern/11am Pacific) of the show, and tweet the selected performer using the hashtag #askgh.
