Internet message boards have been ablaze with the rumor that Cady McClain (ex-Kelly Andrews, The Young and the Restless; ex-Dixie Cooney, All My Children; ex-Rosanna Cabot, As the World Turns) could be heading to General Hospital as a recast of Jenny Eckert, Luke (Anthony Geary) and Bobbie's (Jaclyn Zeman) cousin. But is it true?
Word on the street is that McClain -- who reportedly grew close to GH's new co-head writer Jean Passanante when they were both working at ATWT in the mid-2000s -- is very close to striking a deal with ABC's lone soap. And Passanante isn't the California native's only GH connection -- she's married to Jon Lindstrom, who has played Kevin Collins on the soap since 1994.
However, despite how much fans would love to see McClain return to ABC daytime, a show rep tells Soap Central there's no truth to the rumor, as GH is not currently recasting the role of Jenny (previously portrayed by Cheryl Richardson).
McClain most recently portrayed Y&R's Kelly Andrews but -- much to fans' dismay, as well as her own -- she was written off the canvas when the character went crazy. "It's never easy to get this kind of news, but it is the reality of the business," she said at the time. "What's most important is that I did all I could to give justice to 'Kelly's' send off and give the audience the best ride possible. That's what I could control and that's hopefully what I did."
Prior to her Y&R role, McClain played AMC's Dixie on-again, off-again from 1988 to 2013 and ATWT's Rosanna on-again, off-again from 2002 to 2010.
UPDATE:
Cady McClain took to social media on August 5 to also explain that there's no truth to the Internet chatter.
"[T]ake a moment to relax about the crazy GH rumor, started by a well meaning fan on a forum," McClain explained. "Believe me when I tell you, when there is news to tell, I will tell!"
Would you have liked to see McClain in Port Charles? Do you feel she would have made a good Jenny recast? Can you see her playing anyone else from GH's past? Share your thoughts in the Comments section below, on our message boards, or by submitting Feedback.
