Christmas has come and gone, but that isn't stopping General Hospital from delighting viewers with quite a special episode on Wednesday, January 17. Not only is the ABC soap opera dedicating the entire hour to fan-favorite character Ava Jerome (Maura West), but the series is surprising fans with the previously unannounced return of Bryan Craig in the role of Morgan Corinthos.
The Emmy-winning actor reveals he'll be popping back into Port Charles for the drama-filled hour, tweeting: "Secrets out! I'll be on tomorrow #GH. Hope you all enjoy."

He later followed up his original tweet with another including a sexy black-and-white photo with the caption: "Morgan's back tomorrow."

As previously reported, GH will dedicate the entire Wednesday, January 17, episode to Ava as the character undergoes surgery to heal her remaining facial scars. Nathan Varni, ABC's manager of current series, teased that anybody could show up during the tense moments, and it looks like Ava's ex-lover Morgan is at least one blast from the past he was referencing. Viewers will have to stay tuned to see what other surprises the powers that be may have in store.
Craig starred on GH from 2013 to 2016, at which point he decided to leave the show and pursue other projects. He has maintained since that time that he's willing to return to Port Charles as long as he doesn't have to sign a long-term contract.
"The contracts just seem really binding right now. I would even be open to going back to GH, but it's a scheduling thing," he revealed to Soap Central during last year's Daytime Emmy Awards (where he took home the award for Outstanding Younger Actor). "When you're under contract, it kind of takes up all your time. But I'm open to returning [to GH] if things could work out. So we'll see."
At this time, there's no information on whether or not Morgan's upcoming appearance will be real, a drug-induced vision Ava has during surgery, or something else. It's also unknown how long Morgan will be back on the canvas, though considering his hesitation to sign a contract, it's safe to assume his return stint will be brief.
