Emmy-winning actress Chloe Lanier left quite a mark on the daytime world as General Hospital's Nelle Hayes, inspiring both fans and Port Charles colleagues to deeply mourn her absence on the canvas. So, it's lucky for the genre as a whole that she's reprising her love-to-hate ABC Daytime role this week.
Lanier's Nelle will be back in the mix for a brief period of time in the week ahead, doing what she does best: torturing the residents of Port Charles. As viewers know, a lot of loose ends were left untied when Nelle was hauled off to jail earlier this summer, and Lanier teases that her alter ego is popping back in to clean things up -- or completely blow them apart, depending on how one views it.
"She definitely has some unfinished business with some people," the actress teased to Soap Opera Digest of her alter ego's reappearance on the canvas.
The last time viewers saw Nelle, she was being hauled off to prison just hours after giving birth to a baby she claimed had died. The baby is now living with Brad (Parry Shen) and Lucas (Ryan Carnes) as their adopted son, Wiley -- while the baby's real father, Michael (Chad Duell), is mourning the son he calls Jonah. Rumor has it naughty Nelle will see her tiny tot during her short stint back in the mix, but time will tell whether or not the baby switch will be revealed or if the powers that be have decided to hold onto that particular stunner a little longer...
Lanier made her GH debut as a young Patricia Spencer in flashback scenes that aired in 2015. The actress' performance was so applauded, show executives brought her back the following year in the newly created role of Nelle. After just two years playing the love-to-hate character, Lanier decided to exit GH so she could focus on primetime and film projects. Upon leaving the canvas, the actress promised that she'd be back.
"Nelle isn't dead," she tweeted at the time. "She isn't done."
Thank you to all of my passionate and lovely @GeneralHospital fans !!! I love you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for helping make the past two years some of the best of my life. Also...Nelle isn't dead. She isn't done. ☠️😺
