Actress Chandra Wilson has walked several red carpets due to her wildly popular role as Dr. Miranda Bailey on Grey's Anatomy, but General Hospital is giving the actress a taste of what it's like to be on the other side of the red carpet: she's set to play a fashion journalist during the soap's upcoming Nurses Ball.
People reports that Wilson has taken on the role of Sydney Val Jean, East Coast fashion editor of Crimson magazine, and will appear on Friday, May 17, during the glamorous GH event, scheduled to begin a day before her appearance, on Thursday, May 16.
According to the publication, Sydney will go head to head against the magazine's editor-in-chief, Nina Clay (Michelle Stafford), in a red carpet rivalry at the annual HIV/AIDS fundraiser.
This will be Wilson's third GH appearance; last August, she appeared as therapist Dr. Linda Massey, and in 2014, she appeared as Dr. Kevin Collins' (Jon Lindstrom) patient Tina Estrada.
"I've watched GH for 35 years," the actress revealed at the time of her first appearance four years ago. "I grew up with it. It holds such a place in my heart."
As for what fans can expect from the 2019 Nurses Ball, GH executive producer Frank Valentini says this year will be particularly special and personal.
"We were able to incorporate original music and performances from a few of our actors, including James Patrick Stuart [Valentin Cassadine]," he said in an official statement. "There's a lot of heart in these amazing performances. You won't want to miss them!"
