Stuart Damon, who won the hearts of daytime fans in his long-running role as General Hospital doctor Alan Quartermaine, passed away this week at the age of 84. It didn't take long for members of his General Hospital family to take to social media to remember their colleague and friend.

Damon's on-screen daughter, Amber Tamblyn (Emily Quartermaine) said she was "broken-hearted" to learn of Damon's passing. "[H]e was the most kind, wonderful, loving, supportive person. He always made me laugh and made me feel safe on set," she recalled. "I love you, Stewy. Rest well now, my friend."

Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) echoed a sentiment that many fans shared, calling him "a lovely, funny, talented Prince" and "Charming." The statement references Damon's role in the 1965 film adaptation of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella.

Steve Burton said he was "saddened" by Damon's passing, and shared that he would "never forget his kind soul, zany sense of humor and talent."

Eden McCoy, who hadn't yet started elementary school when Damon exited General Hospital in 2007, said that Damon made her "proud and thankful to be even a small part" of General Hospital. The actress often shares stories that her costars have told her about former cast members and show secrets.

GH's current executive producer Frank Valentini posted a message offering deepest condolences to Stuart Damon's family and all who loved him." Valentini called Damon "an absolute legend" who will "be sorely missed."
