For the past few weeks, General Hospital fans have worried that they might soon have to say goodbye to William Lipton (Cameron Webber).
In story, Cameron has informed his family and friends that he'd be leaving Port Charles, New York, to head to Stanford University.
The news took fans by surprise, and many took to social media to ask the actor if he had opted to leave the show -- or if he had been let go.
Now, Lipton is speaking out about his future with the ABC soap.
In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Lipton confirmed that he will be stepping away from General Hospital to focus on his real-life education. Lipton is currently a sophomore at USC.
After being off-screen for a short time, Lipton will be "rejoining the cast in the summer."
Lipton has thanked fans for their support and shared on social media that "Working on General Hospital has been such an important part of my life, and while I'm not planning on leaving yet, I just want everyone to know how grateful I am to be part of such an amazing community."
Lipton is a three-time Daytime Emmy nominee. In 2019 and 2022, Lipton received Outstanding Younger Actor nominations. In 2020, his song "North Star" was nominated for Outstanding Original Song.
Lipton joined General Hospital in August 2018.
