General Hospital's staff will soon have a new face onboard when Dr. Bronson checks in to discuss Gregory Chase's (Gregory Harrison) prognosis. Soap Opera Digest is reporting that Jeffrey Stubblefield is headed to Port Charles in the coming days. Will the doctor offer Gregory a ray of hope as his health continues to decline?
In April 2023, viewers learned that Gregory had been diagnosed with ALS, but he kept the heartbreaking news from his family because he didn't want to burden his sons Dr. Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) and Detective Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) with the knowledge that he would eventually need fulltime care as the disease progressed. Unfortunately, Gregory's symptoms increased in frequency and intensity, and during the August 18, 2023 episode, Gregory took an alarming tumble while babysitting his young granddaughter Violet Finn (Jophielle Love). When Finn got wind of what happened, Gregory was left with no choice but to share the devastating diagnosis with his eldest son.
If Stubblefield looks familiar to viewers, it's not his first foray in daytime. In 2008, he appeared on General Hospital: Night Shift as Roger Walker, an expectant father whose wife was revealed to have had a phantom pregnancy. Stubblefield also appeared on several popular television series like Ghost Whisperer, Desperate Housewives, The Practice, and Without a Trace. Recently, he's had roles on Diary of a Single Mom -- as Hayward Hastings -- and Good Trouble as Michael Davidson.
There's no word on how long Stubblefield will be sticking around, but the hospital has seen a steady decline in staff over recent years. For those who love the medical dramas GH is known for, a new addition will be welcome.
