In an effort to cut down on scheduling confusion and consolidate a rise in ratings, the OWN network has adjusted its All My Children and One Life to Live broadcasts.
Beginning Monday, August 5, the network will air just one episode of AMC and OLTL each weekday from Monday through Thursday. "New" episodes of All My Children will continue to be broadcast at 1pm Eastern/Pacific. One Life to Live will now air immediately after AMC at 1:30pm Eastern/Pacific.
Additionally, the Friday marathons of both soaps have been scratched.
During their first two weeks on OWN, All My Children and One Life to Live each aired in two-hour blocks. Two repeat episodes aired before each new episode, and the day's new episode re-aired immediately after its first broadcast. The scheduling change, a source tells Soap Central, will now make it much easier for viewers to know when to watch new episodes.
An average of 151,000 viewers tuned in for each new airing of All My Children on OWN during the week of July 22, up from 124,000 during the premiere week the week before. One Life to Live, meanwhile, tallied 155,000 viewers per new episode, up from 113,000.
In total, 1.81 million viewers watched the 20 episodes of AMC that aired during the week of July 22. 1.566 million caught episodes of OLTL.
OWN began airing both soaps on Monday, July 15 as part of their summer soap fling. Ratings weren't that stellar in the first week, but both shows increased their audiences in week two.
