Days of our Lives' Lauren Koslow (Kate Roberts) and The Young and the Restless' Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea Lawson) have both experienced devastating losses this week as their beloved dogs have crossed the rainbow bridge. Our pets can become just as much members of our families as humans, and it's heartbreaking when they pass. Both actresses took to Instagram to say goodbye to their four-legged friends while sharing heartwarming photos.
Koslow posted a beautiful tribute to her beloved Rita Hayworth on Tuesday, celebrating her life and remembering the moment she found her at a rescue and took her home.
"Sadly we say goodbye to Rita Hayworth our flaming-haired fox with the valiant heart. Our beloved Rita has gone on to her next adventure," Koslow wrote. "Towards the end of her life, Rita needed extra help -- to keep her eating, to help her walk, to replace her narrowing activities with new ones & to just be there and fully in the moment for her. Ongoing support for senior dogs takes acts of selflessness but rewards by making you a better human in those moments, one with a bigger heart and a kinder soul. I'm grateful."
"I remember first sighting you at the county animal shelter," she added. "Making a scene, jumping over the backs of your fellow cage mates with your three-legged hops, barking -- demanding to be seen --
"And you were. Our lives are better for it. Always & forever in our hearts."
Egan paid tribute to her beloved Sophia on Wednesday, honoring her with sweet words and showing a series of photos of her pet with herself, her husband, and her children.
"So very sad to share we had to say goodbye to our sweet Sophia yesterday," Egan wrote. "And although we were so lucky to have 16 1/2 years with this special angel, it just never seems like enough time. We are heartbroken but also grateful. Sophia made me a Mom. She changed me forever.
"She was our best girl and I can't imagine her not being here anymore. I know it's part of life as a dog parent, but it hurts so bad. We will love you forever our sweet Sophie girl. And will see you again one day. Now go get that mailman."
