Born in Santa Monica, California, Sabatino is the eldest of four children.
He grew up in Brentwood, California, near the Santa Monica mountains, which
is where he developed a life-long love for hiking. Upon graduation from an
all-boys high school, Michael earned a pole-vaulting scholarship at the
University of California at Irvine. It was during his senior year that on a
lark, Sabatino auditioned for a school play. His audition was so impressive
that when he missed his appointment for a callback due to a track meet, the
director hunted him down and subsequently offered him the lead.
Later, Sabatino earned his first professional role in "Sweet Bird of Youth,"
with Ed Harris, at Hollywood's Gene Dynarski Theater. In 1982 he garnered
the role of Chip Roberts on the primetime drama, "Knots Landing." From
there, Sabatino landed principal roles on Days of our Lives and The Bold
and the Beautiful, before joining All My Children as Dr. Kinder.
An avid athlete, Sabatino enjoys skiing, mountain biking, backpacking,
golfing and scuba diving. In 1997, Michael married Crystal Chappell of ABC's
One Life to Live.
Michael's work on AMC ended in the spring of 1996 when Dr. Jonathan Kinder
was nabbed by the revenge-minded trio of Erica, Janet, and Skye. The ladies
tracked him down on the island of St. Justin and returned him to Pine Valley for
prosecution.
