The Young and the Restless is about to get spiced up with the addition of Laur Allen, who takes on the role of Brash & Sassy consultant Juliet Helton beginning Tuesday, February 28.
Juliet is a "charming and confident" character who'll make herself right at home with the company's power players, Soaps In Depth reports.
Allen, who describes herself has half-Chinese/half-British and Hungarian, says she was bit by the acting bug after landing a role as a Talking Daisy in a junior high production of Through the Looking Glass.
"As I stood in front of the whole school in my ill-fitted, partly spray-painted, larger than life foam headpiece, I sold my soul to Hollywood," she writes on her website.
But her road to Y&R wasn't direct; first she attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville, where she double majored in Communication Studies and Spanish with a minor in Corporate Strategy. She also ran for Miss Los Angeles Chinatown and -- to her surprise -- won the pageant as the first multi-ethnic queen in its 47-year history. She later went on to make it into the final round of the Miss Chinese International Pageant in Hong Kong, where she won the title of Miss Friendship.
Allen writes that her journey has given her more "growth, personal empowerment and self-discovery" than she's capable of expressing, and she's been pursuing her acting career full-time since returning from the international competition.
Also a trained kung fu expert, kick boxer, and sniper licensed with guns and weapons, Allen has appeared on Stevie TV and Saturday Night Taped.
