Fans of The Young and the Restless definitely don't have a shortage of podcasts to listen to! They can tune in to the fictional one that Genoa City character Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) hosts in episodes of the soap opera, they can look forward to the summer launch of a new interview series hosted by Camryn Grimes (Mariah Copeland), and they can also listen to a new podcast that Jordi Vilasuso (Rey Rosales) and his wife, Kaitlin, just launched.
Vilasuso took to Instagram to share the news of the couple's new venture, which will candidly explore their marriage and how they make it work. Aptly titled Making It Work, the podcast will debut a new episode every Wednesday.
"We're officially @makingitwork !!!! The dream of someday working with my wifey has finally come true," the actor wrote. "I'm learning so much from this pro @kaitlinvilasuso and I'm so excited to take this adventure with her and with y'all. LET'S GO!!"
Kaitlin also posted about the podcast, writing, "We are so excited to finally share Making It Work with you... We're aiming to create a space where we can get candid about lessons we've learned so far and dig in to discover new ways of making it work in life and love and all the things. Check out our first episode whenever you listen to podcasts.. We're anxious to hear your thoughts and are crazy excited to be 'Making it Work' with each of you!"
There's no doubt that the Vilasusos will delve into some pretty deep topics in their podcast. In a 2019 interview with Soap Central, Vilasuso revealed that he and Kaitlin began seeing a therapist their first year of marriage.
"I'm a huge believer in the idea that we don't have all the tools. For instance, in my marriage, the first year was probably the hardest, and that's when we got a therapist, and we've been with the same woman on and off for seven years," he said. "I think that is fundamental to keeping a marriage strong and alive, because you can only see so much, and the other person can only see so much, and it's really about understanding that if you both want to make it work, that's why you're in therapy, so you have to be like, 'Hey, we're on the same team, how do we see this?' And I think couples need a coach. That has worked really well for my marriage, and I think it's true across the board."
The actor -- whose other soap credits include Days of our Lives' Dario Hernandez, All My Children's Griffin Castillo, and Guiding Light's Tony Santos -- added, "You get caught up in your stuff. You get all emotional, and you have your pride and ego, all of that stuff, that comes into play. But you've got to strip all of that stuff away if you're going to make a marriage work. The craziest thing I've ever done in my life is to raise children with my wife in this career, which brings up all of these questions, like 'How am I going to make this work?' with the consistency, the life of an artist. But the story that is written for us is so beautiful, and it wouldn't have been written if we hadn't gone through the shit. You have to go through that, and I think you get so much closer in your relationship. And you also get to actually understand yourself even better, and you ask, 'Okay, what kind of person do I want to be, ultimately?' That's what has translated for me with therapy and being a father."
