Many Genoa City residents were recently shocked to hear that blast-from-the-past The Young and the Restless character Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) helped Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) fake her death back in 2011, which allowed Diane to surprise everyone from Jack (Peter Bergman) to Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) with a very unexpected "resurrection" this spring.
With so many mentions of Deacon in recent weeks, a lot of viewers feel that it's only a matter of time before Kanan brings his alter ego back to Genoa City, where Deacon can maybe atone for helping Diane carry out her faux-death shenanigans a decade ago. But a tweet made by the actor basically says not so fast!
Kanan, who is currently playing Deacon over on The Bold and the Beautiful, caught wind of the rumor that he will be heading to Y&R, and unfortunately, he says the casting rumor is "news to me."
That's news to me. https://t.co/Mrls649dSC

With that being said, the powers that be at Y&R could decide to bring Deacon back at any time. Y&R and B&B have had many crossovers over the years, some of which happened for far less interesting storylines than a whole town being miffed about someone's fake death!
B&B brought Deacon to the canvas for storylines spanning from 2000 to 2005 and 2014 to 2017; he infamously romanced both Bridget Forrester and her mother, Brooke, at the same time -- which led to the birth of Deacon and Brooke's daughter, Hope. He also had an affair with Jackie Marone (Lesley-Anne Down), which caused an infuriated Nick (Jack Wagner) to lace Deacon's drinks with alcohol, sending the then-sober alcoholic off the wagon and out of town.
Deacon eventually landed on Y&R, where he stirred up lots of trouble for several Genoa City characters from 2009 to 2012 -- including Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), a fellow alcoholic with whom he had a brief marriage.
Kanan's Deacon returned to B&B in 2021 as a "new man" ready to be a standup dad to Hope (Annika Noelle) and possibly rekindle his romance with Brooke. To read how that's going, check out Soap Central's in-depth interview with Kanan here.
