The Young and the Restless, the longest-running CBS scripted series, is set to begin its 50th season on the air when the show broadcasts on Friday, September 30, with an exciting new milestone.
Beginning on that date, The Young and the Restless, produced by Sony and Bell Dramatic Serial Company, will celebrate its anniversary by debuting a new logo to mark its historic 50th-season milestone. The soap first debuted on September 30, 1973.
The Young and the Restless will also celebrate its five decades on the air with the return of several fan favorites from the show's past, though official announcements on who might return have not yet been announced. The show is executive produced by Anthony Morina, with co-executive producer and head writer Josh Griffith.
CBS Daytime also confirmed that a special crossover episode is planned with The Bold and the Beautiful on Monday, September 26. That date will mark the beginning of The Bold and the Beautiful's 36th season on the air. Details of which characters will be involved in the crossover have yet to be released.
Since Y&R premiered, the CBS soap has helped launch the careers of several famous primetime and film actors and actresses, including Vivica A. Fox, David Hasselhoff, Adam Brody, Tom Selleck, Shemar Moore, Eva Longoria, and the late Paul Walker.
